God Has Not Given Us a Spirit of Fear

God wishes to remove our every fear so that we can walk in faith. Fear will cripple us and prevent us from moving forward into the things our hearts cry out to experience. We must give to the Lord these fears that keep us back – the fear of failure, the fear of being misunderstood, the fear of criticism and the fear of man. We must be willing to fail and learn from our failures. Only as we face them head on, going through them, and using them as stepping-stones can we become overcomers. Some of our greatest learning times will come through our stumbling, as we try to find God’s ways. Negatives become positives when we build upon them.  Through experience, we will gain understanding of our mistakes and we will be careful not to go that way again.

A child who is learning to ride a bike will fall, but in time and with practice he will learn and never forget because he has experienced it for himself. He will have learned and balance, how to use the brakes and learned the rules of safety. If a child falls once and decides never to try again, think how much joy in life he will forfeit. We will surrender much of what God has prepared for us if we do not face fear head on. He has called us to be overcomers and fear stands at the head of the line of things to overcome.

2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind.

  2. Good devotional thought, Wanda. That is what I treasure about growing older. Testings, failures, repentance and rebuildings, misunderstandings and other's harsh words have come and with the Lord I am still standing. Having endured removes the fear and makes it so much easier to handle without fears the next time around. I don't understand people who want to go back and be 20 again. Only if I could take the life experience that I have gained would I do that.
