God must lay a proper foundation before He can bring us into new truth. That way His new revelation will not fall to the ground once it has been given. God builds precept upon precept and line upon line so that we are not overwhelmed with new spiritual insight. God, in His sovereignty, will arrange a variety of circumstances for us to encounter for the purpose of preparing us for the new life that is being offered. If we embrace our circumstances while looking to God, we will grow and be made ready for further enlightenment. As each test is passed and the truth is established, the process of further enlightenment will begin again. Gradually the Holy Spirit will help us release the hold that the world has upon us as we cooperate with Him.
