Love Not the World

How little we understand how tightly we hold onto this world. The Holy Spirit will touch each area of our lives to reveal how the world rules us in so many areas of our heart. We will never understand until the day comes when the Lord asks us to give away something we treasure or lay aside a talent that brings us glory and not Him. He might ask us to let go of a habit and we discover that not only do we hold onto it but also it holds onto us.

The Lord will examine every corner of our lives and will leave nothing unturned until He truly becomes first in everything. We cry out, “Lord, I love you with all my heart.” At that confession, the Holy Spirit begins to disrobe our hearts and show us the many things we put before Him. This is a time to rejoice and be glad for He will answer our prayers as He searches our hearts for the things that stand in our way of growing up into Jesus. I have all of Jesus but He doesn’t have all of Me.

1 John 2:15
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of the world.
