A Continuing Revelation

As God’s children we need to come daily to His Word because this is His teaching tool. It is the Living truth and only as we come to the Word, expecting, will we be open to be taught. Too often we approach the Scriptures as a reading assignment rather than the Book of Life. We read the surface meaning without realizing we will never plumb the depth of God’s Word.

The Word is a continuing revelation – a quickening by the Holy Spirit-as we meditate upon it. As we are ready, the Holy Spirit will drop a nugget into our hearts and we will see a passage of Scripture differently than ever before. When the Holy Spirit quickens a passage to us we may say, “ that word jumped off the page at me.” That is revelation. However, if we try and share this revelation with another, they may shrug their shoulders and say, “that’s a nice Scripture.” To us it is a quickened word – a God-spoken word, a rhema, a word full of life. We need to ask the Holy Spirit this question – What is the Lord  specifically saying to us in this quickened word?

Jeremiah 15:16
Your Words were found and I ate them, and your Word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by your name, O Lord God of hosts.
